With a laptop do you have to order wirless high speed internet?

I was just wondering because if you didnt do that then the cord would be running from the laptop across the floor.My friend told me she has a laptop and she has wirless high speed.We use to have a laptop and thats when we had regular dial-up and I remember running the phone cord to the laptop from the wall so basically it was dragging across the floor and that sucked.Anyway does your laptop also have to be set up to have wirless internet because I’ve been reading about laptops with WiFi,so if your laptop doesnt have that,does thatmean it cant go on the internet wirless?Also what companies provide wireless internet.My dad told me we cant get dsl where we live.We do have highspeed but its not from dsl its from a satellite.But I am wondering if I can get dsl wireless where we live.Anyway any answers would be very much appreciative!

    you basically just need a wireless router. most laptops now come with built-in wireless cards.

    if you have satellite internet then you dont need dsl. but first you need to know if you laptop has wifi and if it does then you need to go to walmart and buy a wirless router its like $50 so then you plug your internet cord into the wireless router and then you turn it on and then you turn on your wifi on your laptop them poof your wireless.

    and if you still want to know if you can get dsl where you live then just go to there website and put in your zip code and it will tell you if your house can get dsl.

    anything besides dial up can get wireless internet but you have to buy the wireless router in order to get it. so just to make sure im clear im gonna do a repeat

    #1 you have to have fast internet like dsl, satellite, comcast in order to get a wireless router cause dial up wont work!!!
    #2 you have to buy a wireless router and plug your internet cord into it
    #3 once you get your router set up turn on your wifi and it should find the signal and your done
